Endewearde Hunt
Friday, October 10th, 2008
to
Monday, October 13th, 2008
Hosted by Shire of Endewearde - Newburgh, ME
It's early October and all is golden here in fair Endewearde. The heat of summer has given way to the cool of autumn and the archers are ready to play in the merry woods of gold. Thus, we welcome all lovers of bows, brews, and bards to gather for Endewearde Hunt V. Raise up your pavilion and spend the entire weekend, or day trip on Saturday or Sunday, and enjoy the glorious spectacle of red and golden leaves reflected in the little pond. Crunch through the woods and hunt “wild game.” Enjoy the merriment and fellowship that a warm campfire brings to a chilly fall evening before retiring beneath the stars.
Come on Friday, set up your pavilion, practice your draw and aim, and join us around the bonfire for songs and stories. If the night is clear, starlight from the constellation of Lyra the lyre, which shines in our October sky, shall play its own melody. On Saturday and Sunday the meadows and woods of our beautiful rural site shall be ready for merry games of sport lead by Endewearde's First Archer and Captain of the North Tower Archery Company. The Hunt will feature a variety of shooting games including the woods walk. There is plenty of room for a heavy combat challenge or fencing bout if you can find a free and willing marshal – we shall have a marked list field. A light but lovely dayboard will be provided on Saturday.
One of Endewearde's fair ladies will host a themed embroidery challenge. We'll have a smattering of classes, too. If you'd like to teach one, contact the autocrat ahead of time so you can be included in the schedule.
Late Saturday afternoon, following the shoot, we shall feature a potables competition with categories of Beers, Meads and Others. As evening falls, we will hold a Bardic Circle round a warming bonfire. A challenge is thus issued for this circle – bring for the audience tales of hunting and hunters, bows and arrows, prey and pursuit!
