Question: Can my children bring their friends with them to a SCA event?

Yes, if you follow the steps below:

Required Paperwork when the parent or legal guardian is not present with their Minor child at an SCA event

Minor in the SCA is defined as someone under the age of 18 years old.

The Adult Responsible for a Minor MUST follow these steps if they are bring a Guest Minor with them. These steps assume the Minor does not have a "blue card" signed waiver on file with the SCA:

(1) the Adult responsible for the Minor must be over the age of 21 years old. This adult is responsible for the Guest Minor at all times during the SCA event.

(2) The Parent or Legal Guardian of the Minor must complete the SCA pdf form called Minor Consent to Participate and Hold Harmless Agreement. You must bring with you to the SCA event when you check in at gate to pay entrance fees. This form does not authorize any form of medical treatment for the Guest Minor.

(3) The Parent or Legal Guardian of the Minor must prepare the SCA pdf form called Medical Waiver for Minors and have it notarized by a Notary Public before the Guest Minor can attend an SCA event. The Guest Minor must carry this form with them while at the SCA event. Please plan ahead to allow enough time to have this form notarized prior to the event.

The complete policy of the East Kingdom Seneschal for a Minor's  attendance at SCA events can be found here:

Activities For Minors

It is the policy of the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc. that parents and legal guardians are responsible for their children and guest minors at all SCA events.

Not every SCA event will offer activities specifically designed for children. Please contact the individual event organizer, known as the "autocrat" or "event steward", in advance if you have any questions about what activities may be of interest to your children and their guests. Some arts & sciences class instructors will allow youths to take their classes if they are accompanied by an adult.

Thank you for your cooperation.
