Pilgrims
Words and Music ©2004 by Brian A. Hubbard, known in the Society as Gwillim Kynith.
This song was written on the last day of Pennsic XXXIII as I sat watching the folks all around me leaving to go on their "50 week town run."
Two armies assembled, brave and noble,
All travelers across distance and time.
Sharing in the splendor and joys of chivalry,
Brave combat, good fellowship, sweet wine.
Chorus: For a fortnight we bide together in this land,
Though our stories span 'cross the years.
And now as this war draws to a glorious end
We're left with only memories and tears.
The pathways that meet here span the ages,
All reflections of the way we'd like to be.
The dreams and desires that we each strive to fulfill
Do not abide in this century.
Chorus:
And so, we are pilgrims together,
Pausing briefly in this time and place.
Our moment in this age is coming to a close
In our journey to valiance and grace.
Chorus: Chorus:
